Communion is a dissolving of boundaries, one enters into a realm of pure undifferentiated energy, it is a movement into a mystery. The best human relationship to illustrate it would be marriage: “forsaking all others … you pledge to live and love only one…” In this way, we learn to truly speak from the heart.
This morning I knelt at my bedside to pray but couldn’t close my eyes because every time I did, I could clearly see what I needed to repent of. I needed the chasm and boundary between God and me to be dissolved because How can I expect God to hear my pray while keeping sin and unforgiveness in my heart? If God has to answer my prayer without my desire to repent then He would be contributing to the very things (sin, selfishness and unforgiveness) that I cherish. God cannot do anything in partnership with evil.
So, I asked God to forgive me – for my past and present and I committed my future into His hands (I’ve also forgiven some people for wrongs they have done towards me). Now I am ready to pray or commune with God.
What is separating you from God? Ask Him to forgive you for it and He will. Are you withholding forgiveness from others – don’t! Release yourself from the chains of unforgiveness and be free to commune with God.
Now – Let us Pray.
Dear God, we ask you to forgive us our sins as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Remove any and all barriers between us Lord, and hear our prayer today.
Lord, heal our Land. We need a reprieve from Covid-19. Bless our Country and our world. Forgive us for our individual, corporate and national wrongs. Look with favour upon us and flatten the curve – Oh, Lord.
And when you save us – give us the strength and courage not to go back to our old lifestyles and way of thinking. As we seek Union with You, dear God- may that translate into love for another and working for the collective good of all people – regardless of their religion, culture, race, age, gender or biases.
