How God communicates and Work reveals a little bit about His Will
Revealed Will of God: The Map
God has already revealed His General Will for ALL of us. It is expressed in the Bible. The truth is that if you follow the Word of God, You will live out God’s purpose for your life. Most times, God speaks us, specifically/individually as we apply and appropriate His spoken and written Word. There is nothing more potent that the Word of God to awaken the conscience and sensitise the soul to the Will of God. Interestingly, when you read His Word – it is His Word – that gently reminds you that if you choose a path apart from His Word – He will not give up on you! His Revealed will is likened to a Map.
Circumstantial Will: Detour/Deviation/Rebellion
Other times, we wilfully deviate from God’s Word. Regrettably, I am guilty of this. But, God does not give up on us and neither does He give up His intended plan for us. In our failed and fallen state, God stoops down and picks us up and wonderfully uses the circumstances or brokenness to lead us back on the path that leads to His ultimate will for our lives. He forgives, we repent and reconciliation takes place and then God uses the place, and properties of where you are to redirect the trajectory of your life. It’s like taking a detour off the main road, but there is always a sign redirecting you back to the main road. It takes a little longer but the provision is always there. God is merciful and His love will not let us go. It is not the ideal but God has a track record of using less-than-perfect circumstances and people to accomplish His will. He can use broken people to fix things and fallen people to pick others up. We have to trust our circumstances into His hands to see Him work His wonders. This is the journey that we all experience.
God can use your predicament and circumstance to bring glory to His name.
Ultimate Will: The Destination
And then, there is God’s Ultimate Will. He has already declared it: that you and I should be saved and that none should be lost: that is why Jesus died and rose again. God’s ultimate Will is for us to be in face-to-face communion with Him. This anticipated reconciliation is expressed in the Revealed Will of God and evidenced in the Circumstantial Will of God. And while we live on this side of heaven, His Will is for us to live life, more abundantly, by His grace.
We have the privilege to study about His Revealed Will, submit to His Circumstantial Will and trust His Ultimate Will for our lives.
